Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and how to contact us

“The Brick Smiths” (ABN:  20 976 931 412) provides LSP workshops and related services. Contact: nathan.wilkinson@thebricksmiths.com.


2. The kinds of personal information we collect

  • Contact details: name, email, phone, role, organisation.
     
  • Booking details: service type, date/time, location/time zone, reschedule/cancellation info.
     
  • Communications: enquiry notes, emails, messages, feedback.
     
  • Preferences: subscription/marketing opt-ins, topics of interest.
     
  • Payment info: invoicing details and remittance records (we do not store full card details).
     
  • Website data: IP address, device/browser info, pages viewed, and cookies/pixels if analytics/ads are enabled (see Cookies).
     

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information. If you share it with us (e.g., accessibility needs), we’ll use it only for that purpose.


3. How we collect personal information

  • Directly from you (forms, Microsoft Bookings, email, phone, events).
     
  • Automatically via our website (cookies/analytics, see Cookies).
     
  • From third parties with your consent (e.g., a colleague introduction).
     

4. Why we collect and use personal information

  • To handle enquiries, schedule and deliver services, and manage our relationship with you.
     
  • To send service messages (confirmations, updates, invoices).
     
  • If you opt in, to send occasional marketing about workshops and resources (you can unsubscribe anytime).
     
  • To operate, protect, improve and develop our website and services.
     
  • To comply with legal obligations and manage risk/disputes.
     

5. Legal basis/authority

We provide the collection notice at or before collection and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We rely on your consent for optional marketing and recordings.


6. Disclosure to service providers

We use reputable providers to operate our business, such as:

  • Microsoft 365/Bookings (booking form and calendar),
     
  • Website hosting and content platforms,
     
  • Email and file storage,
     
  • Analytics/advertising tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta) if enabled,
     
  • Video meeting tools (e.g., Teams/Zoom),
     
  • Payment processors (e.g., Stripe/Square) if used.
    These providers may store/process data in Australia or overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your information.
     

7. International transfers

Some providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where practicable, we implement safeguards (contractual terms, access controls) and choose reputable vendors.


8. Retention

We keep bookings and related correspondence for up to 24 months after our last interaction, unless the law requires a longer period. Then we securely delete or de-identify it.


9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information (access controls, MFA, least-privilege, staff awareness). No method is 100% secure; please contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.


10. Your rights: access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if inaccurate, out-of-date or incomplete. We’ll respond within a reasonable time and may ask to verify your identity.

11. Direct marketing

We only send marketing if you’ve opted in, and every message includes an unsubscribe option. You can also email us to opt out.


12. Cookies, analytics and tracking

  • What: Cookies and similar technologies may collect usage data to help us understand traffic and improve the site; advertising pixels may personalise or measure ads (if enabled).
     
  • Choices: You can control cookies via your browser settings and, where offered, our cookie banner. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.
     

13. Third-party websites

Our site may link to other sites we don’t control. Their privacy practices are their own.


14. Children

Our services are designed for organisations and adult learners. If you’re under 16, please don’t submit personal information without a parent/guardian.


15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version.
